The Everchanging Shift for Multifamily Design Post-COVID-19
Thursday, August 12 | 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
2020 forced us to pivot quickly and learn to be productive working from home. Many companies have found their employees enjoy this flexibility and value more time at home. Because of this, we predict we'll see the rise in the focus of the home as a workspace as well as a deeper emphasis on health and wellness. As the work from home trend is here to stay, it will be increasingly important to take all that comes with that into account in post-pandemic design. Amenities like large business centers, community gathering areas, and gyms and wellness centers will be key in creating functional and enjoyable live/work environments.

6 Common Traits of a Healthy Project: Using AI to Determine Project Health

Eric CrawfordFonn
Eric Crawford
Director of Sales for North America | FONN

A project manager and his customer want a healthy project. However, few projects are delivered on time and on budget. Traditional construction processes and workflows can provide vital information if it is collected and made accessible to workers in a timely manner. Accurate and real-time information captured on project sites is crucial for performing work correctly the first time--reducing re-work and saving you money.

Fonn investigated this challenge and started working on a way to fix it. In this session, we'll review how AI enables users to track, monitor, and predict Project Health using technology gathered from our customers. This session investigates how Project Health is understood in the construction industry and how it is reflected in 4 key areas: Satisfaction, Safety, Quality, and Cost. It also identifies the 6 common traits of a healthy project. Attendees to this session will be given a complimentary copy of the accompanying white paper.

Tom Woodcock
President | Seal the Deal
Many in the construction industry consistently make the same mistakes that kill their opportunity. There are many common errors and mentalities that hinder sales success. We'll put a light on these problems and give the behaviors that counter them. Make sure your approach to the customer base is the most effective possible. These errors are often made without the contractor even realizing they're making them. This cripples their chances of winning profitable projects.

Underground Utility Damage Prevention
9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. | Room D 160

David FergusonImage
David Ferguson
Texas 811 | Damage Prevention Manager

This 1 to 1 ½ -hour session details the requirements and exclusions of Texas Utilities Code Title 5 Chapter 251 – Underground Facility Damage Prevention & Safety Act and TAC Title 16 Chapter 18 – Underground Pipeline Damage Prevention Rules as they apply to all excavators and utility operators.

Although not the only critical underground facility being damaged, gas & hazardous liquid pipeline damages continue to be an issue across Texas; so much so that the Railroad Commission of Texas implemented and is enforcing the regulatory requirements of Chapter 18. A significant percentage of these line strikes result from crews digging with mechanized equipment in the immediate vicinity of a gas pipeline. Depending on the nature of work and pipeline placement, it is sometimes difficult to avoid encroachment into the area identified by the RRC as the “18-inch hand dig” Tolerance Zone around gas pipelines. This translates into citations and significant fines levied against excavators, other utility operators, and even including municipal system operators.

The session will thoroughly address Chapter 18 requirements from the initial locate request all the way to filing the post-incident damage report. Electronic methods of requesting facility locates, incorporating safe excavation practices to avoid damage, and fundamental incident investigation techniques & documentation will also be addressed.
