- I have spent my entire working life in construction. First as a self-employed carpenter and cabinet maker. In 1986 I began working in a production cabinet shop. In 1988 I started my career in timber work with Blue Ridge Timber Frame in Christiansburg, VA. I was a founding member of the management team at Dreaming Creek Timber Frame Homes in 1991. When I left the company in 2006, as operations manager, we had 60 employees and were running a CNC timber cutting machine 2 shifts daily.
I came to Cascade Joinery that year as one of the owners and have managed the business since then. We supply custom timber work for residential, municipal and commercial projects, to clients up and down the West Coast, including Hawaii, and Alaska. We are currently working on projects in Nevada, Idaho, Washington, and California.
Along the way I have served as a compound joinery instructor for the Timber Framer's Guild, teaching classes for professional framers, worked as crew leader on numerous TFG projects, served two terms on the board of the Timber Frame Business Council, including two years as President, and two terms on the board of the Timber Framer's Guild, serving as Treasurer and then President. I worked with volunteers and staff of the TFG to help develop the curriculum and Apprenticeship Program. I am as a member of the first class of Journeyman Timber Framers and currently chair the Apprenticeship steering committee.
