What are the ways of getting that next opportunity?

1. What to do after a loss or win?
2. Why do I have to compete on every project?
3. What should my expectations be of my customer?

Using Probabilistic Analysis to Improve Project Performance

09:30am - 11:00am - Wednesday

As large-scale construction projects become more complex, project schedules and budgets become more susceptible to unexpected risks. Managing these risks involves all phases of the project, from planning through execution.

By using a probabilistic modeling of the project cost and schedule, you can proactively plan for, mitigate, and react to project risks. This session will focus on project managers, sponsors / owners and planners of large-scale industrial projects. We will provide case studies of how these techniques can be applied on your projects.

Target Audience: Architects, General Contractors, Subcontractors, and Suppliers

Program Risk vs. Project Risk:  Integrating the Schedules of Several Interrelated Projects

09:30am - 11:00am - Thursday

A large-scale construction project is complex enough – especially when things are not going as well as expected. But what happens when you have a program of interrelated and interdependent projects all going at once? You may find that a minor delay within one of your projects can cascade into a major delay for some of the others.

By using a probabilistic modeling of the project schedule, you can better understand the impact of the "Program Critical Path" vs the individual "Project Critical Paths". This session will focus on program managers, sponsors / owners and planners of large-scale industrial programs. We will provide case studies of how these techniques can be applied on your projects.

Protect Your Project from Termite Destruction

11:00am - 12:00pm - Wednesday

Protecting a new construction from termites is not the easiest task as termites are an aggressive, relentless pest that feeds around-the-clock. They often go undetected since they frequently enter through the soil beneath a structure.

The type of construction – floating, supported, monolithic slab – on which a structure is built, will dictate the type of treatment needed to eliminate termites before they attack and threaten the structural integrity of the wood beams, supports, floor and ceiling joists, decking, shipping pallets and finishing that contain items high in cellulose.

Jeff Keller, Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE) and Regional Manager at Holder's Pest Solutions, will discuss the treatments that correspond to each type of construction and other preventative techniques that builders can use to minimize the risk of termites ruining their projects and cutting into their profits. Keller will also educate participants on the three types of termites in southeast Texas and the different habits and risks associated with each type of termite.
